Medical Management. Mindful Eating.
Movement.

The premise of the Trifecta Weight Management Program is that excess weight is a chronic condition. By recognizing it as a chronic disease, it is important to manage it using an evidence based medical approach.

The Trifecta Program optimizes 3 factors to manage weight:

Medical Management

Medical management involves ongoing consultations with Dr. Gardizi to create an individualized plan to help manage your weight as well as the other illnesses associated with this chronic condition. Dr. Gardizi follows the Canadian Obesity Guidelines and helps follow patients longterm to help sustain their best weight.

Mindful Eating

Mindful eating is an important component of achieving and sustaining weight loss. Trifecta Weight Management utilizes techniques to help you reframe your relationship with food and will guide you to be more conscious of the nutritional value of foods. Our program is void of any ‘quick fixes’ that claim to fast track weight loss. It does not involve any dietary restrictions. It helps patients to be more mindful of what they eat and how they eat.

Movement

Movement involves any activity that is enjoyable and sustainable. When people think of exercise, they often think of going to the gym. The Trifecta approach involves simply moving more within the limited time allowed by your lifestyle. With the help of a Movement Health Specialist, you will learn how to make the most of your time and better incorporate movement into your lifestyle.

Obesity as a Chronic Disease

According to the Canadian Obesity Guidelines, obesity is a chronic, relapsing disease, driven significantly by genetic factors, characterized by an excessive accumulation of body fat.

Our inherent biology, built through evolution, fiercely protects established fat levels, making weight reduction through merely diet and exercise a substantial challenge. This physiological defence, maintained by complex neurobiological mechanisms, not only governs weight but also influences cravings and energy output, essentially positing obesity as a brain disease.

Understanding obesity as a complex disease linked to various serious conditions including type II diabetes, heart and gall bladder diseases, fatty liver, and notably increasing the risk of several cancers, is pivotal. Acknowledging it as a medical condition, not just a result of lifestyle choices, can help in breaking the persistent cycle of prejudice and bias encountered by many individuals. It’s time to foster a more informed approach to managing obesity, emphasizing its multifaceted nature and the crucial role of sustained medical intervention.
