Our Philosophy

Treating the root,
not the symptom.

The premise of the Trifecta Weight Management Program is that excess weight is a chronic condition. By recognizing it as a chronic disease, it is important to manage it using an evidence-based medical approach.

The Trifecta Program optimizes 3 factors to manage weight: Medical Management, Mindful Eating, and Movement.

Programs & Coverage

Medical Weight Loss Programs

Evidence-based programs designed to treat obesity as a chronic biological condition, not a lifestyle choice.

Your medical care with Dr. Gardizi is covered by OHIP. The allied health programs below are private-pay and covered by most extended health insurance plans — receipts provided after every session.

01

Medical Nutritional Therapy

(Dietary Counseling)

This twelve-week program involves regular consultations with a registered dietitian who will teach you how to make informed food choices to manage excess weight. The consultations consist of a review of your current diet to identify patterns that contribute to excess weight. The dietitian will teach you how to incorporate nutritiously dense foods that keep you full longer.

02

Movement

Resistance Training Program

Resistance training is an important pillar of weight management, particularly for patients undergoing pharmacotherapy. Some medications support fat loss but can also affect muscle mass. Maintaining lean muscle as we age is critical for protecting bone health, sustaining vitality, and supporting long-term metabolic well-being.

Common Questions

Before you book

The answers most patients are looking for — coverage, referrals, and what to expect.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

Medical consultations with Dr. Gardizi are covered by OHIP with a physician referral. Ask your family doctor to send one — our one-page referral form makes it easy — or contact us and we will help you arrange it.

What does treatment cost? Is it covered by OHIP?

Your medical care — consultations with Dr. Gardizi, follow-ups, prescriptions, and lab requisitions — is covered by OHIP. The allied health programs (dietitian-led nutrition therapy and resistance training program) are private-pay, and most extended health insurance plans cover them. Receipts are provided after every session.

Are appointments virtual or in person?

Both. We see patients at two Etobicoke locations, and program sessions — nutrition and movement consultations — can be done virtually from anywhere in Ontario.

What happens at my first appointment?

Dr. Gardizi reviews your health history, current medications, and weight history, then builds an individualized, judgment-free plan based on the Canadian Obesity Guidelines — which may include medical management, nutrition therapy, and movement.

Do you prescribe weight-loss medication?

Where appropriate, yes. Pharmacotherapy is one evidence-based tool within the Canadian Obesity Guidelines, and Dr. Gardizi — a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine — prescribes and monitors medication as part of a complete plan, never as a quick fix.
