Movement
Resistance training is an important pillar of weight management, particularly for patients undergoing pharmacotherapy. Some medications support fat loss but can also affect muscle mass. Maintaining lean muscle as we age is critical for protecting bone health, sustaining vitality, and supporting long-term metabolic well-being.

The consultations consist of a review of your current diet to identify patterns that contribute to excess weight. The dietitian will teach you how to incorporate nutritiously dense foods that keep you full longer.
Your plan focuses on practical, evidence-based strategies: incorporating more protein and fibre to support treatment with GLP-1 medications, a low glycemic index diet to reduce insulin resistance, and a Mediterranean-style diet to reduce inflammation.
Research shows that eating nutritiously dense foods result in greater satiety with benefit of lower calories consumed promoting weight reduction. Calorie reduction along with a diet that includes nutritiously dense foods reduces inflammation and burden of disease from excess weight.
Our registered dieticians specialize in weight management and adhere to the Canadian Obesity Guidelines.
Throughout the duration of the program, you will have access to medical consultations with Dr. Gardizi. We understand that managing weight is a long-term commitment. The ongoing medical consultations and access to our team of experts will help keep you on track with overall wellness goals.

Patients begin with an initial virtual consultation with Will. He creates a weekly resistance training program tailored to their individual needs, with progressive increases in resistance every two weeks. The program is designed to be followed independently, with structured progression to support consistent improvement over time.
Will provides phone check-ins every two weeks to support consistency, adherence, and lean muscle maintenance. These check-ins help patients stay on track and allow the program to be adjusted as fitness develops.
This program is designed to complement the clinic's overall care plan — a clinically-guided movement support program for patients managing excess weight, not a gym or personal training service.
